Between now and your exam on the 26,27,28th of April you need to ensure that you have enough work to show progress and refinement in your ideas, techniques and skills. Following your photoshoot last week, you now need to develop your ideas linked to your photographers, ensuring that your work is not repetitive and is refining with each experiment. This might include: - Working in the style of your new artist - Exploring new techniques - Building on a previous experiment with your new photos - Alternative methods of combination I would expect you all to have at least two thirds of your sketchbook filled by the start of your exam! There is no specific homework. At this stage, you should be putting in as much time as possible during your frees and evenings in order to produce enough work and work of a high enough quality to achieve a C or above.
REMEMBER: you cannot do any more work on your exam project after your exam starts

During today's lessons you will have tutorials to reflect on the mock exam.
Whilst waiting for your tutorial: 1. Plan for the trip tomorrow. - what do you aim to get out of the trip? - what photos do you need? - how can you move forwards from your mock exam? - how will you link to your artists? - what will you do with the photos when you return? - print out all of the above along with any photos that you are aiming to recreate so that you can refer to your planning on the trip. 2. Present your mock exam work and evaluate in your books (or leave separate to go on a board if more appropriate). Please ensure that your books are handed in by the end of the day for marking. Make sure you have 3 combined experiments and that they are all presented, and ideally annotated - although this could be done later if necessary. This week you need to develop your ideas towards your mock exam which is on Monday following your 3 combined experiments. To do this: - carry out mini experiments this week, following on from your 3 combined experiments, with the intention of developing and refining your ideas and then producing some 'mini outcomes' in the mock exam. - You need a new set of photographs to work with. Plan this and ensure that you have completed the photoshoots you need before Monday, producing thoughtful images of the highest possible standard. You cannot take photos during the exam. - You will need an exam plan in your book. What experiments will you create, who are they inspired by, how are they building on previous experiments etc? What else could you do if you finish early? - You might need another artist. If you do, choose it carefully, analyse their work and present a page on them, then create a response to their work. You will then need to plan a set of experiments/mini outcomes for Monday's mock exam, which will combine your new artist with aspects of your original artists. On the mock exam day (13th March)- You will be expected to produce 3-5 experiments of a high standard which build on your previous experiments. They should be good enough to use as mini outcomes to get marks for AO4 as well as AO2. Experiments should either link with the intention of presenting them as a series or demonstrate different skills in order to refine your ideas.
- You will be in ITDT for the day and will have an invigilator. I will not be available other than at lunch time. You will have break and lunch as normal. - You will not have access to the classroom, but can take materials into the ITDT if needed. - You will not have access to the internet, so you need to make sure that you have everything you need on your area/in your sketchbook. - At the end of the day you will have to print off all experiments/outcomes at A4/A3 for marking, then you'll present and annotate in the next lesson you have. Please hand in your books for marking at the end of your lesson today. Your next task is to start bringing together your artists styles and techniques through a variety of experiments. You should have a new photoshoot (half term homework) ready to work with, but you can also use some of your previous photoshoots - perhaps both! Explore ways of bringing your photographers together to meet your intentions (what you aim to achieve through this project) through: - use of colour - content within the photos - composition - lighting - locations/backdrops - mood and atmosphere - meaning behind the photo - editing techniques (photoshop/darkroom/ by hand) By next Monday, you should be prepared to hand in/discuss in a tutorial a minimum of 3 edited photographs, each bringing together your artists in different ways to show different ideas and skills. All edits should be presented in your book and annotated. This deadline cannot be extended as you need to start planning and experimenting towards your mock exam next week.
By now you should have chosen 3 photographers, analysed them and presented them in your books. You should also have a set of photographs - either per artist or in general, ready to start editing. Your task this week is to edit at least one photograph in the style of each photographer, so that over half term you can present and annotate them in your book. Your responses should: - use the same/similar techniques, colours, style etc. as your photographer - be your own version, not a copy - include anything you said you would during your analysis of their work 1. Books will be handed in on the first day back after half term for marking. Please ensure that all of the above is complete.
2. Carry out at least one more photoshoot over half term, aiming to take photographs that will be suitable to combine your three artists styles. All due: Monday 27th February - p5. Carry out research to help you choose a question. Make sure you are happy with the question as I'd rather you didn't change your mind later! Once you have chosen, proceed to the following:
Create a mind map of ideas - break down your question as much as you can, with all kinds of ideas, even ideas you have no interest in as it shows you have considered a wide range of concepts. Find 3 photographers to inspire your initial photo shoots - choose 3 that are quite different - different styles, techniques, approaches to the subject etc. - create a research page on each artist, including photos that inspire you most and a paragraph about their work. Discuss their techniques, style, content etc using the formal elements to help structure your comments. Ensure that you include your opinion and how the photographer will inspire you. In your book, present the above with 2 spare pages next to each one - for planning, a contact sheet and edited images/responses. When you have completed the 3 pages, plan for your photo shoots to respond to each photographer. What will you do, where, how? etc. Take these photo shoots asap, ideally before next week so that you can be editing in lessons. |
