Task 1: Kaleidoscope
Take a photo close up of nature. eg. leaves or a flower.
Use an app on your phone to flip and rotate it into a kaleidoscope style image. Instagram stories has a filter for this! OR there's lots of free apps including KaleidaCam This is a VERY easy task! Produce 5 or more then upload - they literally take a few seconds each once you have the photo. |
Task 2: Nature pattern
Go for a walk and look for close up patterns in nature. Try to take 20 photos or more.
Look for: - leaf patterns - centre of a flower - patterns in arrangements of stones - ripples on water/puddles - branches - feathers - rings on a tree stump - tree bark etc. To be successful, take photos close up and make sure they are not blurry. |
Task 3: Create your own patterns using nature
Collect a range of different natural objects eg. leaves, flowers, feathers, sticks, stones etc.
Arrange them on a plain background (eg. paper or the floor) to create different patterns then photograph. Try to do 3 or more of these. The best ones will have colour and/or contrast. eg. White stones on a black background would look good. Also, think about the pattern - can you include some symmetry or repetition in a circle/square/star? |
Task 4: Take photos of patterns in/on water
Take 20+ Photos for this task. There are lots of different ways you could do it, including:
- photos of the lake/pond with ripples on the water - photos of the lake with reflection of reeds in water - fill a tray of water, ask someone to use a straw to blow bubbles whilst you take photos - add washing up liquid to the above to make actual bubbles on the water! - add cooking oil to the water and mix it up then take photos - add food colouring to water in a clear/white tray, shake the tray slightly as you photograph ripples - tip a glass of water into a tray of water from a height, photograph the splashes |
